The Hills of Doggerland - a photo essay

I've been working in a piece of writing for a competition - hence the lack of words here.  I can't publish the competition  work until after the end of the judging - so wish me luck and enjoy these pictures of my trip to the Farne Islands - The Hills of Doggerland.

Inner Farne
Seahouses
Gulls over a fishing boat
Transport to the Island
Lesser Black Backed Gull
On Inner Farne (or On Stewart M)
Puffins
Puffins
Arctic Tern
Kittiwake
Guillemot
Razorbill
Bridled Tern

This whole set of picture will look much better viewed in slide show mode - so click on one image to be able to see them all in a larger format.

Normal (wordy) service will resume soon.  SM

Wishing you good luck with the competition (as instructed!). A nice set of pictures reminding me of my many visits to the Farnes. Thanks.

I was thinking just a day ago that Stewart M hadn't been sighted and perhaps had migrated for the season...

Then blow me down there he was on yonder rock flocking with others of his species!

I completely understand the refocus (it's a lesson I have yet to apply to my own writing needs!) and commend for taking up the challenge; looking forward to reading the results 'cos you know I am a 'fan'!!! YAM xx

Stewart your photos are breathtaking, love the clarity in the bird shots. You really outdid yourself. The Puffins are so darn cute! :-)

As for writing, I've read some of your writing and you don't need luck by any means, you only need judges whom recognize phenomenal writing! Wishing you all the best.

Cheers.
Wonderful shots here. Good luck with your competition.

Oh it's good to see you for the first time ever! And the birds! I have never seen any of them. The puffins and gullemots and others are beautiful. I'm ready to link to your WBW post, as soon as you have it up this week? Good luck for the upcoming judging. Greetings. Jo

I can see now why your bird photos have such clarity. That is a marvellous camera set up you have. Though it does look a bit heavy to carry around. Enjoyed all the photos.Good luck with the competition!
